Tom founded Roman Pilates in 2003, driven by his desire to integrate
Pilates-based exercises into Functional Movement fitness training. He
has over 20 years’ experience in the fitness industry, having taught
everything from Step, Pump and Aerobics, to Pilates group classes, and
operated a successful personal training business in several of Sydney’s
top gyms.
A well as building a dedicated, and still expanding, client base Tom
has recently developed a Fitness Australia Accredited Course
Integrating Pilates into Fitness Training, in partnership with Penny
Elliot (B. App.Sc (Phty), Physiotherapist). This is a complete pilates
studio training course for professionals in the fitness industry who
are focusing on Functional Movement Training.
Prior to coming to Australia, Tom worked for the University of
California’s Counseling Department teaching courses in Peer Counseling
Skills, and providing training in stress management, motivation, self
esteem, leadership development and communication skills. Tom uses this
experience to encourage his students and clients to achieve their goals.
